Come join our journey, and experience what it means to be Done Right with Rhoads.We are currently looking for a Receiving Inspector to join our dynamic, fast-paced, and growing Quality team. The Receiving Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, components, and products to ensure they meet company quality standards and specifications before being released to production or inventory. This role works closely with the Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to verify that all incoming items meet required documentation, dimensional, and workmanship standards.Incoming Inspection & VerificationPerform detailed inspection of incoming raw materials, purchased parts, and assemblies to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and applicable quality standards.Conduct visual, dimensional, and physical inspections using calibrated measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools.Verify material identification, revision levels, quantities, and traceability requirements upon receipt.Ensure inspection activities comply with company procedures and applicable customer or regulatory requirements.Documentation ReviewReview and validate supplier documentation including Certificates of Conformance (CoC), Material Test Reports (MTRs), certifications and inspection reports, special process certifications when required.Confirm documentation accuracy, completeness, and compliance with purchase order and specification requirements.Ensure traceability documentation is properly recorded and maintained.Nonconformance ManagementIdentify and document non-conforming materials in accordance with established quality procedures.Initiate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and clearly document inspection findings.Assist Quality and Purchasing departments in determining disposition of rejected materials.Coordinate segregation and control of nonconforming product to prevent unintended use.Material Control & IdentificationEnsure proper identification, labeling, and status designation of materials (accepted, rejected, or quarantined).Maintain controlled segregation areas for nonconforming or pending inspection materials.Support inventory accuracy through proper receiving inspection release processes.Cross-Functional CollaborationCommunicate supplier quality concerns to Purchasing and Quality teams.Support supplier corrective action activities when inspection issues are identified.Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Quality personnel to resolve material discrepancies.Records & Quality System ComplianceMaintain accurate inspection records in accordance with company Quality Management System requirements (ISO 9001 and/or customer requirements).Ensure inspection data is complete, legible, and properly archived.Support internal and external audits as required.Continuous Improvement & Workplace StandardsParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives related to incoming inspection and supplier quality performance.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized inspection area consistent with company safety policies and 5S practices.Follow all company safety, quality, and operational procedures.Additional ResponsibilitiesPerform additional duties as assigned to support quality and operational objectives.Your BackgroundU.S. Citizenship required.High School Diploma or GED required.Associate's degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.2+ years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or receiving inspectionAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and specificationsExperience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)Strong attention to detail and documentation skillsExperience working within a Quality Management System (ISO or similar)Experience with ERP or quality tracking systemsStrong attention to detailProblem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, and quality teamsEffective communication skillsBasic computer proficiency (Excel, ERP systems, inspection documentation)The Work Environment at RhoadsThe performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.What Rhoads Can Offer YouCompetitive health insurance packages401k matchingPTOOur LocationWe are based out of The Navy Yard in Philadelphia, a reimagined industrial locale with more than 150 companies, 15,000+ people, 20 acres of parks, dining options, public art, and events throughout the year.
